According to foreign media reports, Diren recently said that its joint venture with Dupont has successfully developed flame retardant polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) film TEONEX QF. Applications of TEONEX QF films include lithium-ion batteries, flexible printed circuit board substrates, flat cables, and lighting and building materials.
According to Diren, the business of the project is expected to generate annual sales of 2 billion yen ($19 million) by March 2017. TEONEX QF film uses the special flame retardant filler of Diren Company, which has good strength and heat resistance. Halogenated flame retardants are not used in newly developed film materials, thus eliminating the impact on the environment and human health.
