According to Zhou Zhengmao, the supervision of flame retardant materials includes three links: strict laws and regulations; relevant testing agencies should provide testing reports; and strict supervision and inspection by law enforcement departments. Moreover, the work of the three links should be undertaken by different departments, so that the laws and regulations can be effectively implemented. At present, China is undertaking these three tasks by a single department, which is not strict in law enforcement and weak in supervision. Therefore, he suggested that we should speed up the revision of relevant flame retardant product standards and the establishment of third-party testing institutions, further improve relevant laws and regulations, and strengthen supervision.
